Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer in Malaysia

I found this post from other person's blog. I just share it here... (Amirul's Blogspot)

Many peoples are wondering about aircraft engineer salary. I must say that pay is quiet reasonable.

Take for example, I know a large number of Malaysia Airlines staff are drawing about RM20,000 per month working as a licensed aircraft engineers at MAS’s hanger.
Last week I received a call from an old friend from MAS, he was working for MHS, or Malaysian Helicopter services. He was drawing RM17,000 from his work at the company servicing the oil rigs of the course on Malaysia.
You may be wondering how come the aircraft engineer salary is high. This is how it can be..
Basic Salary ————– RM 7,000
Technical allowance …    RM1,200
Productivity allowance  RM1,000
License Allowance            RM 3,000
Holiday Pay                         RM 2,000
Overtime                              RM3,000
Total  RM17,200
Yes, it is possible. License allowance is given for additional license you hold. If you have B737 airframe, the company pay RM500.  As you work longer, you will accumulate more license. There are many of the staff who have more than RM3,000 for his license allowance alone.
The holiday pay is when you work on public holidays. You will be paid 3 times your normal rate. This is how it is calculated..
Your monthly salary + allowable allowance — e.g RM 9000
divide by working day per month e.g 20
Then your daily rate is RM 450.
When you work on public holiday= 3 time pay.
The you will be pais RM450x3 = RM1350

In Malaysia you will find so much of public holiday. That is one of the reason why the aircraft engineer salary is high.

Why The Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Matters

The Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer

Why the Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer is important:
The licensed engineer is the sole arbitrator of safety whilst the aircraft is on the ground. The Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer will only supply their signature to a Certificate of Release to Service (CRS) when he/she are 100% certain that the aircraft is safe to fly. The CRS is a legal statement clearing an aircraft, as far as engineering is concerned, to fly. In effect, the engineer has taken full responsibility for the quality of any maintenance performed while the aircraft was on the ground.
Why maintenance matters:
There is a close link between standards of maintenance and safety. The
International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has established minimum standards of airworthiness and operational safety for operating aircraft. The Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer has studied long and hard to obtain his qualification in accordance with ICAO requirements.
Why aviation is different from other sectors of industry:
The key feature making aviation different from other sectors of industry is
safety criticality. It is true that safety is also important for other transport sectors,
but the failure of a key system during aircraft operation is more likely to lead to
catastrophic results. The Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer is a key figure in ensuring that your flight was completed not only safely but also without event.
Why the year of the Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer:
Airline operators are under enormous pressure to produce a profit. The Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and in fact maintenance as a whole are not often seen in the limelight and so are considered by many as an easy target for cost cutting. This type of cost cutting takes on many forms but needless to say very few are actually beneficial to you the passengers.
Recently an attempt was made by industry to severely reduce the involvement and effect of the Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. This had the potential to have been the single most effective cost cutting exercise to have negatively affected safety to date. The License itself is an independently issued document belonging to the individual. This personal licence coupled with company supplied specific aircraft type training ensures that maintenance is performed and supervised by highly trained individuals.
As the link between standards of maintenance and safety has already been established by ICAO, any cut backs here can only increase the risks of air travel.

As an aerospace engineer, you could be working on a mission to the Orion space, which plans on putting astronauts on the moon by 2020. Or, you can be involved in developing a new generation of space telescopes,  the source of some of the most significant discovery of the universe. But the space is just one of many areas to explore, as an aerospace engineer. You could develop commercial airliners, military aircraft, helicopters, or  for our airways. And it becomes even more down to earth, you could design the latest land and sea transport, including high-speed trains, racing cars, or deep-sea vessels that explore life on the ocean floor.

Aerospace Engineers Working Projects:
  • Improving the safety of space shuttles
  • Building a more spacious passenger plane
  • The establishment of satellite detection of drought in parts of the world
  • Design robots to collect samples on other planets, showing a deep understanding of our Galaxy
  • Development of parachutes, using new materials to improve their performance.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineers(AMEs) are Certified Licensed Engineers

Aircraft Maintenance Engineers(AMEs) are Certified Licensed Engineers

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering:
Aircraft Maintenance Engineers(AMEs) are certified licensed engineers and registered under the Aviation Regulating Authority of that country (Malaysia it is DCA Malaysia). AMEs ensures the safety of an aircraft and are responsible for the release(certification) of aircraft after routine maintenance along with monitoring the condition of an aircraft and rectifying the snags or defects occurred during the flights. A qualified Aircraft Maintenance Engineer certifies that the aircraft, engines and components are fit for flight and is airworthy to fly without any jeopardize.
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering

In Aviation safety remains the biggest concern. Aircraft Maintenance Engineers will carryout periodic inspections and recognize the defects and fixing the problems. AMEs keep a log of  all repair parts and work done on an aircraft. AMEs work is not as glamorous as being a pilot's, but Aircraft Maintenance Engineers are vital to the aviation industry. You can't think or fly without AMEs.

In this article i introduced, who and what is AME? In next post there is lot more to know about AMEs career and scope of work.
Keep hitting on me, catch soon ..,

 Happy AME !

Looking for a Aviation Jobs in Aviation Industry. Never go to an Interview Unprepared again!

Key Elements for  an Aviation Careers in today's Aviation Industry:

"Take charge of your future today"
the aviation industry offers career opportunity to suite many interests and backgrounds. As aviation remains an integral part of our society, there is a growing need for qualified maintenance personnel.

"Plan for you're future".
very reason many enter into aviation industry dreaming big, but in the process they end up a looser(serious tone).this statement more applicable to students of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering License.
AS in my earlier articles i said AME is not exiting nor as glamor as other Aviation careers. So  in the process many aircraft maintenance engineering students lacks the interest and zeal as it was in the beginning of their career.

Here listed
Things for successful  Aviation Careers:

Know what to expect ... Be Who You Want To Be
keep an early bird view on your career

Know what airlines really look for ...
keep updating on industry news

Know where to find the jobs ...
know the right place and be at right time to capture your big dream

Never go to an interview unprepared ...
know your basics

know the application process ...
know the knowledge of applying knowledge at the right time and at right place ...  keep busy in touch with right aviation consultancy

know the attitude ...
keep professionalism and be fast learner.
particularly aircraft maintenance engineers and aviation mechanic. A slight negligence from you side results great loss in lives

One of the most important skills that a maintenance engineer must develop is the skill to ignore those things that were designed by non-pilots to get the pilot's attention.

Every takeoff is optional. Every landing is mandatory... in other words, for every take-off, there WILL be a landing.

Keep looking around; there's always something you've missed.

Fuel in the tanks is limited. Gravity is forever.

Never trust a fuel gauge.

"Remember, you’re always a student in an airplane."
